Kim stays on top of all legal matters pertaining to programming across all of TWC’s distribution platforms, especially negotiating and drafting carriage and distribution agreements. Among her many skills are ferreting out the legal ramifications associated with technological advances, such as the TWC TV platform delivering live and on demand programming to multiple devices. Given the serious nature of her job, you might be a bit surprised to hear what she looks for in a new hire: “Intellectual curiosity and a little bit of quirk.”

Who has been your strongest mentor, and why?

Melinda Witmer, hands down. She takes mentoring to the next level:  advocacy.   She has consistently pushed me to test the boundaries of my comfort zone.  And while she expects excellence, she also cultivates an environment where it’s okay to not be perfect all of the time and also, occasionally, to fail.  I haven’t met a single person in this industry more humble and generous in spirit than she.

What qualities do you look for when making a new hire?

Intellectual curiosity and a little bit of quirk.
