Michelle D. Wilson
Wilson has transformed WWE’s approach to annual tent-pole events, growing them from single-day occurrences into weeklong, revenue-generating events. She also ushered in a new approach for the company’s sales and sponsorships and has worked to secure key partnerships, both with blue-chip brands and charitable entities. Recently WWE partnered with the Texas Lottery on a WrestleMania promotion to benefit Texas public schools.
What’s the most important aspect of mentoring?
Mentoring is like any other relationship – it takes commitment, open communication and mutual respect. It’s not always easy to make it a priority, but if you do, it’s beyond rewarding for both mentor and mentee.
What/who inspires you at work? What/who inspires you outside the office?
I am inspired by the passion and commitment that our employees and Superstars have for our brand and for “putting smiles on people’s faces” around the world.
I’m also inspired by WWE’s commitment to giving back to families and children and addressing important social issues through partnerships with organizations like Make-A-Wish, Susan G. Komen, Special Olympics and Hire Heroes USA.
WWE has an entrepreneurial culture which gives us the opportunity to think outside the box, to be disruptive and take risks. This stems from our Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon. Vince has so much passion for everything that he does, and has fun while doing it. He often says “treat every day like it’s your first day on the job.”
