Smalls has decades of experience in the public and private sectors that extends beyond her tenure at Viacom. Prior to joining in 1993, she served in public sector positions, including a decade as chief of staff for a member of the House of Representatives. Her role at Nick entails directing fi nancial resources,
personnel and facilities, managing meetings of the executive management strategic planning team and oversight of pro-social and corporate responsibility initiatives. At Viacom, Smalls works with leadership across its brands to champion multiculturalism, inclusiveness and diversity. Community involvement is, of course, paramount for Smalls. She serves on the board of Charleston, South Carolina’s forthcoming African American Museum and has served as Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC’s board president.
