Lauren Miller

Senior Manager, Acquisition Marketing and Onboarding, Comcast Cable

When Comcast launched its X1 operating system with cloud capabilities late last year, Miller focused solely on an X1 onboarding program—and the results were excellent. The program got a 60% lift in response and email engagement and a significant reduction in churn. She’s proud to be with “a company that is often at the forefront of innovation and drivers of that change—it makes the job all that much more exhilarating.”

What makes you most excited about this industry as you advance in your career?

The fact that this industry evolves at such an exponential pace makes it consistently exciting and challenging. The landscape looks dramatically different today than it did 5, 10 or 20 years ago. One of the most exciting things for me right now is to be with a company that is often at the forefront of innovation and drivers of that change; it makes the job all that much more exhilarating. I remember hearing people say “wouldn’t it be great” if there was a way to schedule TV recordings without putting a tape in the VCR. Many years later, DVRs have become a mainstay for us, and we continue to take those capabilities further. I look forward to working on many more “wouldn’t it be great” projects as I continue forward in this industry.

Who has been your biggest mentor and why?

I am very fortunate to have many people in my life that have provided great advice, insights and visions. However, Keri Arnold, who I first met at Comcast, has been the most incredible mentor to me. She has an enthusiasm for our company that inspires everyone she works with. She is infectiously positive and makes great use of that positivity – leading by example and forging strong working relationships that go well beyond any project or deadline. One of the most important lessons Keri has taught me is that sometimes you need to take a step back and put everything in perspective. We are in such a fast paced industry, but taking that extra time to get perspective on the bigger picture of a situation is invaluable, not just at work, but more importantly, in our everyday personal lives.

What would be your ultimate dream job?

One of my favorite things about this industry is that the possibilities are endless. One day, I would love to lead the efforts of a team that is responsible for bringing new ideas to life, from concept to execution. I have come to realize how much I enjoy working with teams across the company and learning new and exciting things every day. I would want this role to be one that intersects many parts of the company working to enhance the end experience for our customers.
