Social Talent Coordinator, Velocity Social, Viacom Velocity

Elias knows how to make any social campaign successful. Not only does she cast top talent such as Vine and YouTube stars, but she finds ways to increase savings, identify new campaign elements, and earn the campaigns millions in impressions. Just look at her stats. In ten months, she pitched a myriad of social influencers for more than ninety campaigns, all requiring in-depth research and a disciplined approach to working through an over-saturated social talent market. What’s the first platform a social media maven checks when she wakes up in the morning? Dailymail’s Snapchat Discover page. “I MUST know where the reality stars are vacationing and which celebrity just fired their babysitter. This is extremely important information that will change the course of the day,” she quips.

What sort of culture is important to you in the workplace?

I think a willingness to learn and change is important to the workplace. Lots of things that work on one form of media may not succeed on another, so it’s important for our peers and our bosses to keep an open mind to new and exploratory ideas.

What is the most exciting thing about working in this industry?

I love that it is ever-changing. The whole world of social is still so new, and it is constantly evolving, which means my job is always a learning opportunity, and rarely stale!

Who has been your biggest mentor and why?

My first boss @ MTV, Jessica Zalkind, who continues to be a mentor and #ladyboss that I admire. She taught me that hard work, and going beyond just “getting the job done” are keys to success. I also have to thank my current boss, Tom DeNapoli, who always supports me, always trusts me, always champions me, and always teaches me.

The first social platform or website you visit after waking up in the morning?

Dailymail’s Snapchat Discover page. I MUST know where the reality stars are vacationing and which celebrity just fired their babysitter. This is extremely important information that will change the course of the day. 😉
