She’s looking ahead to ways to capitalize on Hallmark’s extension to holiday programming beyond Christmas, including its new Valentine’s Day push. “Although not always possible, I believe in being completely focused on whatever I’m doing at the time,” she says.
What’s the most important aspect of mentoring?
It sounds simple, but setting the best example possible and being accessible for questions regardless of complexity. I started at an entry level position in this business and I think it is important to learn those fundamentals. Setting expectations for yourself, like getting to meetings on time and coming prepared create an environment of professionalism and teach the work ethic you expect.
Best trick for maintaining the personal-professional life balance?
Although not always possible, I believe in being completely focused on whatever I’m doing at the time. My trick is to create as much separation between my personal and professional life. My goal is to work as efficiently as possible each day so I can focus as close to 100% of my time on my family at home. So good judgment and time management are essential.
Your favorite trick for unwinding?
My “unwinding time” is actually my train ride back and forth from work. It is the only time I am alone, so I get a chance to read and catch up on some work and personal emails. It is only 30 minutes each way, but I do savor it.
