Michelle L. Rice
After growing the network to 57 million subscribers, Rice has secured multi-year renewals with key MVPDs despite the network’s divestment of Comcast as a co-owner. As a true independent, owned entirely and solely by Radio One, the net’s lucky to have Rice on the team. And as a former L. Patrick Mellon mentee, she also has a passion for mentoring others. “If each of our company’s products and employees reflected the same level of diversity as the customers we serve, then the cable industry would be well on its way toward better supporting diversity,” says Rice.
What’s your biggest professional accomplishment in the past 12 months?
The last 12 months has been a big affiliation agreement renewal year for the Network. We’ve locked in over 80% of TV One’s current carriage as well as secured additional carriage by securing long-term renewal deals with our top affiliates.
How can cable better support diversity?
If each of our company’s products and employees reflected the same level of diversity as the customers we serve, then the cable industry would be well on its way toward better supporting diversity.
How do you define success?
No regrets.
