Julie Laulis

How busy and motivated is Laulis? She wakes at 3:45 every morning to begin each day. Named president and COO in January, she hit the ground overseeing not only day-to-day operations but long-term strategy, including technology advances, across the company’s 19-state service area. Now that Cable One is a fully independent company, Laulis will be even more integral to the company’s growth. “I think women are especially equipped to be leaders,” Laulis says. “Their collaboration and nurturing skills lend them to building powerful teams that have proven to produce results!”

Where are the biggest growth areas for women in cable?

What areas aren’t big growth opportunities for women? If women can become special forces Army Rangers, I think that proves that the sky is the limit! I think women are especially equipped to be leaders. Their collaboration and nurturing skills lend them to building powerful teams that have proven to produce results!

What/who inspires you at work?

There are so many people at work who inspire me. I wake eagerly at 3:45 a.m. to start my day because I absolutely enjoy the people I work with. I think the ones that inspire me the most are our frontline associates and those who directly support them. I started out of college as a CSR, and I ride with our techs or sit with our folks who develop code for our website or our tools (for example) and I always in awe of what they know and what they accomplish on behalf of our customers. THEY truly care and their work ethic is top notch! Our associates are Cable One’s “secret sauce.”

Your favorite trick for unwinding?

I’m always planning the next family or friend get-a-away. You get to dream a bit and look forward to something, as well as experience one-on-one time with those important to you in non-traditional settings. Our family especially likes Steamboat, Colorado and St. John USVI. Our time together is priceless.
