Jill Ratner
EVP, Litigation, Fox Entertainment Group
Ratner has been a critical contributor to Fox’s television business strategy, and she was promoted to her current position this May. In her new role, she leads the general litigation team, which oversees litigation and claims across the Fox companies. In addition to her legal skills, Ratner has a long history of civic involvement and continues to serve as a community leader and role model. She doesn’t have to look far when asked to cite a program that represents strong women. “My favorite show is FX’s ‘The Americans’ and I think the women’s roles are extraordinary,” Ratner says.
What advice would you give your 13-year-old self?
Stay the course, have fun and know that the teamwork you’re learning from playing so many sports will be useful in your career.
Which current programming best reflects the kind of women’s roles you like to see and why?
My favorite show is FX’s “The Americans” and I think the women’s roles are extraordinary – they are strong, complicated and interesting women. The actresses who play them are tremendous.
What’s been the biggest story in cable this year?
As a litigator, the biggest story from my perspective is the continued fight to protect our content across all platforms.
