Rodriguez has come a long way since joining Univision as an intern 14 years ago. In August, she became Chief Marketing Officer reporting to CEO Randy Falco, with oversight that includes the Univision Agency, a group handling a media inventory of more than $500 million across all Univision properties. “Univision’s commitment to our audience and to our mission allows me to give back to my community while working in the industry I love,” she says.

What’s been the biggest story in cable this year?

We hear this every year but I believe today more than ever there are two story lines driving the conversation: one is that content is king and two is that as an industry we are not only about cable but we are about delivering content anywhere and everywhere our audience is. We are seeing it at Univision which is why we have grown from 3 network to 16 broadcast, cable and digital networks that allow us to better serve the rapidly growing Hispanic community in our country.

How do you define a successful career?

For me, a successful career is when you find your passion. I’m fortunate as I found my passion when I joined Univision as an intern 14 years ago. Univision’s commitment to our audience and to our mission allows me to give back to my community while working in the industry I love.

If you are too strict or too hard on yourself you end up disappointing everyone, including yourself.
