Herrera-Flanigan leads UCI’s federal and state government relations’ efforts to build strategies that address key public policy issues impacting the company and the US Hispanic community. Recent actions include a partnership between California State University, Fullerton and the university’s College of Communications’ Latino Communications Initiative, empowering young Latinas through the national Televisa Foundation’s TECHNOLOchicas program, establishing the Univision MAGIC Scholarship Fund and, most recently, announcing the opening of the new Univision Technology Center (UTEC) in San Jose, Calif. Her thoughts on diversity? “In order to remain relevant, the industry should be opening its platforms and working with multicultural content providers to tell stories in organic, relevant and authentic voices.”
