Jennifer Pirot
Pirot has a deep knowledge of digital platforms and the ability to move quickly and adapt to the ever-evolving media landscape. She says she’s inspired by her intellectually disabled sister: “Watching her take steps towards independent living despite her disabilities makes me not only proud but also certainly helps me keep things in perspective.”
What’s the most important aspect of mentoring?
It’s being willing to share advice not only about your successes, but your failures. Making a commitment – being accessible and available – not just squeezing in a quick email here and there, but dedicating time, thought and energy into supporting and guiding the mentee.
What/who inspires you at work? What/who inspires you outside the office?
At work, I’m oddly inspired by problems! I love problem-solving and in this industry we need a lot of it. It’s the challenge that keeps me going. Outside the office, I’m inspired by my intellectually disabled sister. Watching her take steps towards independent living despite her disabilities makes me not only proud but also certainly helps me keep things in perspective.
Your favorite trick for unwinding?
Getting out into nature! Going for a long hike is the equivalent of having two martinis, as far as I’m concerned.
