Having joined Mediacom in 1996 as one of its first three employees, Commisso-Weinand is responsible for building and cultivating the operator’s human resources department and helping to guide its programming strategy. She’s been busy this year helping transition the company’s corporate employees to its new facility. But the accomplishment of which she’s most proud? Helping her son get through his sophomore year in college. Her best trick for balancing work and home life is having a supportive partner. Also, she suggests “budgeting focused time with best friends and special relatives.”

What’s been the biggest story in cable this year?

Over the top delivery of cable content—a good business model for incremental revenue or not?

How do you define a successful career?

I define a successful career on the constant attaining of new skills and the manner by which one uses these while at the same time not allowing the success to change one’s core values.

Best trick for maintaining the personal-professional life balance?

Best trick for maintaining balance is to have a supportive partner that helps along the way—if not paired. Also, budgeting focused time with best friends and special relatives.

When not in the office, where are we most likely to find you?

Most likely you’ll find me doing something for someone other than myself or my garden or mall.
