Sauerhoff executes digital distribution strategies across Discovery Comm’s many nets, and he brings a lot to the table as a dealmaker and manager of key business relationships. In September, he played a key role in securing a new, two-year deal with Netflix, allowing members to instantly watch prior-season series and specials, including an expanded selection of additional seasons of popular series from Discovery, TLC and Animal Planet, as well as Investigation Discovery, Science and Military Channel. In addition, this month Sauerhoff played an integral part in securing a new licensing agreement that will allow Amazon Prime members to stream prior seasons of hit series and specials from Discovery Channel, TLC, Animal Planet, Investigation Discovery, Science and Military Channel, as well as content from the company’s rich, 25-year programming library.

What personal qualities do you think have helped you get to your current position – —and which ones (that you either now possess or must work on) will advance you to the next level?

I’m not afraid to ask lots of questions, I’m persistent in solving complex problems and I enjoying working with all sorts of different people with different professional backgrounds and focuses.

What digital trend will be the biggest game changer in the next 1-3 years?

The continued explosion and evolution of connected devices that will enable access to entertainment in diverse new ways.
