Lifetime set the bar high with this biopic about the first African-American to become the individual all-around champion and the first American gymnast to receive a gold medal in the individual all-around and team competitions at the same Olympics. The net took a real-life story and gave viewers a positive, uplifting film that families can share—and should help generate excitement for many Olympics to come.  While this is Gabby’s story, Regina King’s portrayal of her sacrificing mother was especially stirring.
