Abernethy’s passion for staying up-to-date on the industry’s latest technical advances— and modifications she’s made to UCI’s content distribution strategy as a result—ensure Univision content is distributed across multiple platforms and channels. Her relentless quest to identify companies with goals aligning with UCI led to a partnership with Verizon that offers telenovelas, sports, and VOD content on Verizon’s go90 mobile entertainment video platform. As for gender equality in the cable industry Abernethy says, “There is still a lot of work to be done and opportunities to seize for true gender equality across different fields including the cable industry. Enlightenment = The C suite.”

What advice would you give your 13-year-old self? 

Go after the leadership roles, whether that’s leading student council or a club… Oh and you should wear that bikini.
