Freddy Rolon
Rolon recently took on the role of VP/GM of ESPN Deportes and this past year has worked to integrate ESPN and ESPN Deportes content across platforms. Successes include the growth of bilingual content on ESPN.com and ESPNDeportes.com, collaboration between the two sites on content, programming and marketing, and coverage of significant events like Super Bowl 50, the MLB game in Cuba and the UEFA European Championship. Looking ahead, Rolon will leverage additional ESPN assets, including its new Mexico City studios, and further engage the bilingual Hispanic audience that navigates across the company’s platforms. He envisions universal authentication as the technology that will benefit cable in the next year. “If we can get to a simpler solution to sign-in and usage across apps and devices, it would be a huge benefit to our audiences and to the industry.”
The technology that will most benefit cable over the next year is…
Universal authentication, if we can get to a simpler solution to sign-in and usage across apps and devices, it would be a huge benefit to our audiences and to the industry.
What television show/s – cable or broadcast – best embrace diversity?
I’m a huge fan of ABC’s “Fresh Off the Boat”, a show about a young hip-hop fan growing up with two distinct cultural influences in the ‘90s. A great example of how universal themes exist in diverse ideas and reach broader audiences.
My personal election campaign slogan would be…
I’d borrowed a quote from Dumas: “All for one and one for all, united we stand divided we fall.”
