Ellen Kroner
The cultural—and ratings—impact of the “Mad Men” finale was just one way Kroner helped AMC Nets make a statement this year. As the executive who spearheads external communications for all the company’s cable networks, she also helped fan-dom spike for AMC series “The Walking Dead,” ignite interest for new spinoff “Fear The Walking Dead,” and propel key series on IFC, BBC America and We TV. Kroner is “inspired by true spiritual leaders who are willing to take risks, including the Dalai Lama and the Pope,” she says.
What/who inspires me at work?
My communications team impresses and inspires me every day with their enthusiasm, creativity and energy. I love coming to work to hang out with them. My boss Josh Sapan inspires me to think more broadly and ask lots of questions.
Who/what inspires me outside the office?
I’m inspired by true spiritual leaders who are willing to take risks, including the Dalai Lama and the Pope, and by the many who work selflessly to improve the lives of animals.
Favorite trick for unwinding:
4-7-8 yoga breathing: breathe in for four counts, hold your breath for seven, breathe out for eight. Repeat four times. Slows the parasympathetic nervous system, reduces cortisol production and enables you to guiltlessly plop down on the couch and watch your favorite TV show.
