Dwayne Benefield
In the past year, Benefield led the launch of cloud-based TV service PlayStation Vue while securing rights to distribute content online from major programmers, including The Walt Disney Company, Fox, NBCU and AMC. His team also expanded the service to devices beyond PlayStation consoles, including Amazon Fire TV, iPhone, iPad and Google Chromecast. He also helped to up customer satisfaction and engagement: Average daily usage is now at an impressive 5.7 hours. Benefield is extremely proud of his crew’s commitment: “Nearly every member of the team reads countless blogs, articles, research reports and reviews daily, sharing those with direct relevance to PlayStation Vue.”
How do you keep yourself and your team engaged and informed on the changing multiscreen universe?
I’m humbled to have a team of the most innovative experts in their fields, be it content, strategy, operations, product, engineering or marketing. Nearly every member of the team reads countless blogs, articles, research reports and reviews daily, sharing those with direct relevance to PlayStation Vue. My management team meets regularly to assess changes in the multiscreen space and where needed, enhances our roadmap to ensure PlayStation Vue remains the most innovative multi-channel service available.
What are your 3 go-to apps?
PlayStation Vue, of course—where else can I obtain the best TV channels, massive on-demand library, broadcast content and cloud DVR on all of my favorite devices? Beyond the shameless plug, with my team spread across four cities, United and Uber have become go-to apps on a nearly daily basis.
If you had to spend a month in the virtual reality, what would your environment be?
My alter-ego would be set loose as a foreign counterintelligence operative, excelling in martial arts, cultural adaptation, and espionage with access to the fastest cars, innovative gadgets and powerful leaders.
