Darcy Antonellis
CEO, Vubiquity
Antonellis oversaw the development of “digital storefront” technologies and services allowing seamless access to rented, owned or subscription content that positioned Vubiquity as an industry leader in connecting content owners and video providers. She also led Vubiquity into the gaming sector with an exclusive B2B global distribution deal with gaming service Utomik. One would be wise to heed Antonellis’ advice to her 13-year-old self. “Take more chances, don’t be at all risk adverse. For every conversation you have, for every new person that you encounter, listen and think about what you’ll learn.”
What advice would you give your 13-year-old self?
Take more chances, don’t be at al risk adverse. For every conversation you have, for every new person that you encounter, listen and think about what you’ll learn. Read, listen, watch—whatever the medium, continuously learn and learn how to convert into something productive.
Which current programming best reflects the kind of women’s roles you like to see and why?
Jennifer Carpenter in “Limitless.” Have always been a fan of Christopher Meloni and Mariska Hargitay in “Law & Order: SVU.” Claire Danes in “Homeland” and Stana Katic in “Castle”. All strong characters – smart and thoughtful while dealing with all of their life’s issues (basically like we all do) in the background.
What’s been the biggest story in cable this year?
More like a handful of them – beyond mergers/consolidations: specifically the FCC set-top-box rulings, the shift to new bundling options for consumers including products/services which cater to broadband-only subs and finally the significant growth of app-based offers indirectly linked to a subscriber’s cable experience.
