Teran scored big this year on the sports front—negotiating rights to FIFA’s World Cup and Women’s World Cup well into the 2020s, striking deals to keep the NFC package on Fox Sports through the 2022 season, and securing three more Super Bowls. She’s also been heavily involved in acquiring sports assets in Latin America and Asia, and expanding Fox Sports in Europe and Asia. How does she balance everything? “[I’m] taking the advice of a very good friend of mine and just doing my best to ‘Be Present’ in whatever it is I’m doing.”

 

What’s the most important aspect of mentoring? 

As Spike Lee said in a recent talk—it is critical to help build a pipeline of people that will be ready to grow and step into your shoes.  In my view, that is the most important thing that mentoring can help accomplish.

 

Best trick for maintaining the personal-professional life balance? 

I don’t believe personal-professional “balance” exists… but am taking the advice of a very good friend of mine, and just doing my best to “Be Present” in whatever it is I’m doing.

 

Your favorite trick for unwinding?  

Walking to the beach – it is my personal meditation time.  It gives me time to slow down, breath in, watch the ocean, and give me perspective on my life and all that I have to be thankful for.
