It’s a good family-friendly show when mom and dad are just as vested in the outcome as the kids. So is the case with Food Network’s “Chopped Junior,” which has child chefs whipping up meals from mystery ingredients under time constraints that would make any cook sweat. Host Ted Allen is the perfect ingredient, never talking down to the pint-size contestants. Another bonus? After watching what these children come up with, it’s possible young viewers might just try something for dinner other than chicken nuggets and macaroni!
