Catherine Frymark’s job description would scare away even the hardest working PR professional. And yet she never seems to break a sweat. Frymark oversees all Communications outreach and strategy for Discovery Communications’ U.S.-facing business units, including Domestic Distribution, Discovery Education, Advertising Sales, Discovery Digital Media and Commerce, as well as management of the company’s Global Events division, and all Viewer Relations and Corporate Social Media activities. This involves support for distributor contract renewals, business partnerships and select M&A and joint venture activity. And oh by the way, she’s also the primary senior corporate spokesperson on these topics. She oversees a 20-person team and even built a centralized, in-house “agency” of seven people to coordinate social media efforts—a footprint that now ranks as the second largest in the industry. And Frymark has long coordinated Discovery’s annual Upfront. After 15 years at Discovery, she’s an incredible asset. And the industry’s lucky to have this PR dynamo, as are we all.
