Promoted last May to his current role, Gutierrez oversees distribution strategy for all 44 of Fox’s national and regional domestic networks and their nonlinear extensions. He also oversees distribution strategy for the West Region team, where he continues to be a key team member in determining distribution responsibilities for the 16 most western states and U.S. territories in the Pacific. “We’re certainly progressing as an industry, but there still isn’t outreach to young adults of color to help them understand how they can be part of the (creative and business) cable industry process,” Gutierrez says of cable’s diversity efforts.

What grade do you give the cable industry on diversity and why?
I’d give us a B. We’re certainly progressing as an industry, but there still isn’t outreach to young adults of color to help them understand how they can be part of the (creative and business) cable industry process.

What television show/s – cable or broadcast – best embrace diversity?
Sport shows and events embrace diversity the best. Whether it’s the Olympics, the NBA or the Men’s and Women’s World Cup, it’s hard to not notice how well cable and broadcast naturally promote and champion diversity.
