Cablevision’s Optimum Community initiative (which includes the program formerly known as Power to Learn) continues to impress, with a wide range of programs and initiatives designed to engage local communities in the tri-state region of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Not only does the program offer thousands of K-12 schools and libraries free cable and broadband, but it fosters other signature programs such as “Charity Champions” offering prizes to charitable high-school students and “Digital Smarts” promoting safe and responsible use of digital media. It also recognizes several recognition months and holidays, including Hispanic Heritage Month, Black History Month and more. Cablevision also works with programming sponsors to cultivate numerous contests, scholarships, reading programs, educational screenings and volunteer programs.
