When Boingo made the bold move to deliver custom broadband services to the men and women living in military barracks, this team led by Boingo CTO Dr. Derek Peterson stepped up to the challenge and engineered what is now considered one of the biggest revenue generators at the company. In the last year, this team’s work has helped extend Wi-Fi and IPTV products to 55 military bases and 285,000+ “beds” (potential customers). The team also powered a seamless launch of Boingo Broadband internationally in Okinawa, Japan. Other accomplishments include the Skinny Bundle rollout, the Amazon Fire Stick launch, a launch of 5 GHz capability and deployment of its first Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) platform. Boingo Vice President of Network Engineering Lance Kirk Telepnev and Vice President of Service Management Scot Hester have also been instrumental in these efforts.
