Sales Mentor of the Year | Ben Price, EVP, National Advertising Sales – Discovery Communications

Starting as a Discovery Communications account exec in 1989, Ben Price has risen through the ranks and now oversees all the company’s national and regional ad sales offices including Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta and Los Angeles. But it’s his stellar mentoring skills that have most impacted those around him. He not only contributes to Discovery’s internal MentorNet program, but also participates in mentoring programs run by the Hollywood Radio & Television Society and thinkLA.  As Kit Herrera, Discovery Communications’ Group VP of Human Resources, puts it, Price “creates a culture of collaboration and recognizes that ideas can come from any part of the organization. He has a proven track record of cultivating and developing top talent and always brings out the best in others.” Says Joseph Czarkowski, VP, national ad sales: “He taught me how to address problems and fix an entire group rather than one person.” Price actually keeps a Chinese proverb on his desk reading “Tell me and I’ll forget, show me and I may remember, involve me and I’ll understand.” It’s really that mantra that has enabled Price to impact so many mentees over the years. And it’s part of why we’re proud to honor him as Sales Mentor of the Year.
