Things are looking up at Up, thanks to Winter’s skillful handling of the network’s comprehensive rebrand and reposition. Not only did the new “We Get Family” tagline marry well with Up’s family-friendly original fare including “Bringing Up Bates” and “Growing Up McGhee,” plus new acquisitions “Parenthood” and “Gilmore Girls,” it aged down the network’s audience by nearly a decade. Winter also broadened Up’s digital reach with the inspiring “Uplift Someone” videos. “I am inspired by all the powerful women leading network brands and creative content. I believe many more boards would benefit from female voices at the table across all sectors.”

What advice would you give your 13-year-old self?

You aren’t going to be able to avoid tough conversations, so your best foot forward is to have them respectfully and honestly.

Which current programming best reflects the kind of women’s roles you like to see and why?

I loved “Agent Carter” for its witty, whip smart and resourceful heroine.

 

What’s been the biggest story in cable this year?

The explosion of content and the innumerable ways to consume it, measure it and monetize it.
