Alison Moore
Moore is credited with advancing NBCU’s portfolio-wide TV Everywhere initiative over the course of the past 12 months. The epitome of efficiency, she is energetic and momentum-focused, and feels most rewarded when she makes an impact. Moore says the biggest growth area for women in cable is digital because digital “will continue to drive change.”
Where are the biggest growth areas for women in cable?
One word: digital. Digital is driving and will continue to drive change across so many areas: marketing, programming, products, consumer experience, branding and distribution. As the change happens, the organizations will have to change as well, which will yield opportunity for growth. Organizations must gracefully manage the transition, assembling the right structure and focus for the team, so that they can maintain growth in traditional business, while also creating new business growth areas in digital. This is such a dynamic time in our industry, and I believe there is tremendous opportunity for people to grow their perspective, their contribution and their career when in the midst of such revolutionary evolution.
What/who inspires you at work? What/who inspires you outside the office?
At work, my fantastic team inspires me every day. Since we work across the entire NBCUniversal portfolio, our work can be challenging at times, and yet they bring their best game to every situation. Not only are they smart and creative, but they want to drive excellence. At home, my husband inspires me. He is a professor of architecture at Pratt Institute, and also has his own business. His creativity, vision, and passion for his work remind me every day that work and passion are not mutually exclusive.
Best trick for maintaining the personal-professional life balance?
The minute I feel like I am becoming navel-gazing about work – one shared moment with my daughter, Josie, is all it takes to snap me back. Any personal-professional life balancing act that I maintain is completely due to that girl. Work is important to me, and it is a major part of who I am, and I like the energy it gives me. I just think that having our daughter in our lives helps me give work its proper place in my life.
