For a long while, YouTube was missing from the Roku channel store, though Roku execs told us earlier that the two have been working to bring the channel to the streaming platform. This week, YouTube finally arrived on Roku 3 player with the potential to expand to additional player models next year. The service is initially available in North America, UK and the Republic of Ireland.
The YouTube channel rounds out the selection of streaming entertainment just in time for the holidays and annual year-end best-ofs, including YouTube’s own list of top trending videos released last week. “Just connect your device to the same Wifi as your Roku, and with one click send videos to your Roku,” Roku said in a blog post. In addition, the “Send to TV” feature allows customers pair a smartphone or tablet to YouTube on the Roku 3. The channel is available in HD.
