New Shoots From Old Sycamore Roots
The well-known Sycamore Networks is gone and a new one has risen from the corporate ashes. Earlier today, the Mass.-based cable, wireless and wireline bandwidth-management company, which was acquired at the end of January by Marlin Equity Partners, filed a certificate of dissolution with Delaware’s Secretary of State to completely liquidate and dissolve the old company structure, allowing it to re-emerge with the new financial backer and a recognized management team led by President/CEO John Scully, who had been vice president/Worldwide Sales and Support under the old regime. A fresh press release adds, “With the acquisition of Sycamore’s product and service business by Marlin Equity Partners now finalized, Sycamore Networks Solutions launches as a private company focused on extending its market leadership in intelligent optical-networking and multiservice access solutions.” The new company retained the right to use the Sycamore Networks brand to help alleviate confusion. Current Sycamore customers include AT&T, BT, CenturyTel, Cricket Communications, Sprint, Verizon Business, Verizon Wireless, Vodafone UK and Cox.
