Tube Stake: Programming Reviews by Seth Arenstein

• TUESDAY, JULY 10

Eureka, season 2 premiere, 9pm, SCI FI.

Season two sticks pretty close to what brought this series success in its initial season as we learn more about this fictional town of government-sponsored geniuses.

Witty banter? Check, particularly between Colin Ferguson, as U.S. Marshall Jack Carter, and Jordan Hinson as his teenage daughter, Zoe.

Complex plots with lots of things—and people—burning? You bet, and most of the trouble leads to the lab at Global Dynamics.

Slew of cool gadgets? Affirmative. Ya gotta love Carter’s “smart house” with its non-water showers and non-razor blade shaving system.

Quirky, whimsical and light-hearted, its eco-friendly subtext this season is a deliberate push on the part of SCI FI’s corporate parent, NBC Universal. SCI FI is even offering a Eureka-inspired smart home contest this season — or you can just enjoy the show. • Click here for more TV reviews by Seth Arenstein »
