Sister pub CableFAX Daily reports that NBCU, Bain Capital and The Blackstone Group have announced the signing of a definitive agreement on Sunday to purchase The Weather Channel from Landmark Communications. The Weather Channel will be operated as a separate entity, and will continue to be based in Atlanta. NBCU will provide management services. Financial terms weren’t disclosed. The deal, expected to be complete by year-end, includes The Weather Channel Networks, The Weather Channel Interactive, and Weather Services International.
