Volicon has launched Observer Scout, a video assurance network monitoring device that enables broadcasters, cable and IPTV operators to perform content-based, proactive monitoring and quality checks at audio/video (A/V) service handoffs. Taking key functionality from Volicon’s Observer and Observer RPM products, the Observer Scout provides a solution for quality-of-experience (QoE)-based content monitoring, logging, and remote viewing of A/V services, eliminating costs associated with chronic network troubleshooting.

The Observer Scout is an industrial-grade content monitoring and logging solution, offering the ability to log up to three days of SD or HD content. Observer Scout facilitates remote viewing of recorded video and supports real-time troubleshooting for A/V feeds, enabling video operators to quickly troubleshoot transmission events that disrupt the viewer QoE. Broadcasters and cable network operators can use the system for continuous video monitoring at ingress points, or for monitoring of content for handoff to pay-TV services.

Cable and IPTV operators can leverage the Observer Scout to monitor content at the point of ingress from local broadcasters, as well as for post-set-top monitoring at the network edge with continuous channel scanning.
