As operators look to customize multiplatform delivery, Vimond Media Solutions announced it will start unbundling its products for distributors that don’t need an end-to-end solution. Vimond claims to be the first tech provider of its kind to offer a component-based option.

“Many broadcasters and operators have tried to enter the OTT and TV Everywhere market by building services on their own,” said Vimond CTO Glenn S. Pedersen. “They’ve reached a point where they want to keep some of their homegrown components, but they need help with others such as video flow, ingest, playout, or content management. Our new modular products meet the growing demand for stand-alone tools to build certain features, so broadcasters can get just what they need in order to round out their online offerings.”

Standalone products now include Vimond Cross Resume, which collects all end-user logins in a database, enabling users to, for example, pause a video on one device and continue playback from another; Vimond Device Control, a multiplatform rights management service; and Vimond Event Analyzer, a turnkey indexing/chaptering service.

Vimond said it will continue offering its end-to-end platform and full support for ops that want to replace or start an online offering.
