Neil brings online eyeballs to Scripps’ Home Category brands such as HGTV.com, DIYnetwork.com and the newly rebranded HGTVGardens.com by not only developing smart online strategies —HGTV is now one of the top 10 brands on Pinterest— but through events like South-by-Southwest or 2012’s inaugural HGTV Holiday House at Mall of America. “Nothing beats developing an idea from scratch with your team and watching it develop into a success,” she says.

What’s your favorite part of your job?
I have lots of favorite parts, but nothing beats developing an idea from scratch with your team and watching it develop into a success. I also really enjoy helping people develop to their potential and watching my own staff and colleagues challenge me in ways that help me develop. 
What’s been the biggest story in cable this year?
How do you define success in the workplace? Traditional success comes from meeting your goals and continuing to develop, but nothing beats coming to work and enjoying what you do every single day. 

Who would you want to swap jobs with for a month and why?
I’d enjoy a short stint swapping jobs with any sitting secretary of state. I find politics fascinating and I’d love to see it from the inside. I’m sure I would run right back to my job quickly after.
