The Utah Telecommunication Open Infrastructure Agency (UTOPIA) has announced that Prime Time Communications will offer more than 350 channels of digital TV, as well as digital voice and ultra-high speed broadband Internet access to residential customers over UTOPIA’s 100 percent fiber-optic open service provider model network.

UTOPIA, www.utopianet.org, is a consortium of Utah cities operating a fiber-optic network that provides a competitive marketplace for telecommunications services in its 16 member cities with combined population over 500,000. UTOPIA’s open service provider model provides the physical infrastructure, while private sector companies compete to provide internet, voice, video and other services over that infrastructure. UTOPIA connects customers’ homes and businesses directly to fiber-optic lines without copper or wireless connections.
