USB Adapters Increase Wi-Fi Range
Amped Wireless, which makes high-powered, long-range wireless products for the home and office, is marketing two new Wi-Fi directional USB adapters that deliver high-speed Wi-Fi access: the UA1000 High Power Wireless-N 500mW Directional USB Adapter and the UA2000 High Power Wireless-N Directional Dual Band Adapter.
“Through the use of advanced high-gain directional antennas, high-powered amplifiers, low-noise amplifiers and the latest Wi-Fi technology, these two new products provide Mac and PC, laptop or desktop users with high-speed Wi-Fi access and superior range,” the company says. “These new platforms allow devices to connect to 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi networks from up to three times greater distance than standard wireless adapters.”
The UA1000 features:
>> Two high-powered 500mW amplifiers to increase transmit range;
>> Two low-noise amplifiers to increase receiving capabilities;
>> A high-gain 5dBi dual-polarity, directional antenna that concentrates Wi-Fi signals in a single direction for maximum range; and
>> N300 Wi-Fi technology and WPS one-touch setup.
The UA2000 includes all features of the UA1000 plus N600 dual-band Wi-Fi technology.
Both USB adapters feature an optional mounting clip.
The UA1000 High Power Wireless-N 500mW Directional USB Adapter is available for $79.99, and the UA2000 High Power Wireless-N Directional Dual band USB Adapter is priced at $99.99.
