UPC Broadband, the European cable division of Liberty Global, has chosen Verivue as a strategic technology provider for its video on demand (VOD) deployments. UPC Broadband is active in several European countries and intends to use Verivue to deliver a video streaming service initially to its subscribers at UPC Hungary, with possible expansion across Europe.

Verivue’s OneVantage Content Delivery solution is a key component for UPC’s VOD service.

“The deployment of advanced new technologies enables UPC Hungary to strengthen and expand its video offerings across our entire market,” said Betzalel Kenigsztein, CEO of UPC Hungary, in a statement. “It is important for us that our partner would enable us to efficiently deliver our entire on-demand content offering while providing cost-effective scaling from large cities to smaller towns.”
