Kevin Devaney Jr. – MSG Varsity
MSG Varsity had a challenge on its hands in 2013 as it transitioned from a linear net to an all-digital network. It’s a good thing Kevin Devaney Jr. was around to get the word out via Twitter, with those who nominated him for this award joking that in the 30 seconds it took them to figure out his lifetime tweet tally (now more than 40K tweets sent), he had already sent out two more. Devaney also touts the rare skill of knowing how and when to tweet—and when to be serious or funny. His serious tweets on high school football, soccer, school politics, rule interpretations, homosexuality in sports, concussions and athletes in the military are always balanced out by lighter tweets about fantasy football, child-rearing, meteorology, professional sports, amateur golf, air travel and of course New York City-area traffic. To say this guy knows and loves Twitter is an understatement. Just ask his newborn daughter, for whom he set up her own @MegaTronDevaney Twitter account. We assume he tweets for her, but who knows? Perhaps the Twitter obsession runs in the family…
