According to its corporate blog, Time Warner Cable is rolling out a series of software upgrades to its set-top boxes across Texas starting April 26, finishing May 15.

The deployments begin today in Austin.

The new Navigator software/on-screen guide has improved parental controls and enhanced DVR capabilities as well as easier access to program searches, settings, and DVR programming.

"We know that not everyone is going to love this at first," wrote Jeff Simmermon, director of digital communications at TWC and author of the blog post. "A lot of times, it feels like right when you get comfortable with a user interface it goes and changes and you have to learn it all over again. But ultimately, this is going to be better in the long run."

All Time Warner Cable set-top boxes will be converted to the new Navigator format soon, according to a PDF
brochure mentioned on TWC’s blog.
