Trapeze Networks, a Belden brand, today announced its new Trapeze LA-200E Location Appliance x2122, a system that locates and tracks anything broadcasting a Wi-Fi signal. The LA-200E doubles the number of clients it supports and is the first product supporting locating and tracking of 802.11n clients. The LA-200E works in concert with Wi-Fi equipment from a wide variety of WLAN infrastructure providers in addition to Trapeze Networks NonStop Wireless infrastructure.

Location applications include 1) Finding a person or asset in real time; 2) Controlling network access based on the location of a client device; 3) Maintaining and servicing equipment inventory and maximizing utilization; and 4) delivering content based on location.

Trapeze also announced global availability of the Trapeze RF Firewall x2122, a location-based firewall securing WLANs. The Trapeze RF Firewall perimeter security app is the first application available on the LA-200E. If a company decides to deny network access to anyone located outside the building, the app is able to discern exactly where someone with their Wi-Fi device is located. This type of firewall thwarts a wide variety of hacking/cracking techniques.
