Touchtv Reaches Out And Touches iPads
Earlier today, SkyGrid unveiled Touchtv, dubbed the world’s first TV for iPad app. The free app reportedly includes content from Fox, CBS, ABC, NBC, ESPN, OWN and E!
Custom designed for the iPad, SkyGrid says Touchtv “gives viewers their own personal TV to watch their favorite channels effortlessly. Simply launch Touchtv and ‘touch’ any channel to start watching. From the home screen, viewers can add more channels and personalize their TVs.
"With over 1.7 billion people watching TV every day, TV is the biggest media there’s ever been, and now it’s available on the fastest growing device in history, the iPad," says SkyGrid CEO Kevin Pomplun. "Touchtv not only gives you the most captivating programs anywhere, it actually makes TV light enough that you can hold it in your hands. It’s amazing."
So far, startup SkyGrid has raised $15 million in Series A & B venture capital investment, backed by RRE Ventures, Bezos Expeditions, asset manager BlackRock, Draper Fisher Jurveston and DFJ Frontier. Other investors include Esther Dyson, Michael F. Price and Rakesh Mathur.
Already, LG Electronics says Touchtv will be integrated into LG smart TVs. More product details will be released as the newest LG smart TVs become available sometime during the first quarter.
Touchtv is available here, from the App Store on iPad or here.
