Spirent added a configurable IMS component to its CS8 Wireless Device Design Tester to help mobile-device designers bring products to market that deliver such IMS-based services as voice over Long-Term Evolution (VoLTE), presence-based instant messaging, video messaging, desktop sharing and new location-based services.

The Spirent CS8 reportedly allows engineers to replicate specific network implementations during the design phase. Issues that might not otherwise be found until the field testing phase on live networks can be identified and addressed in the development lab, which in turn has a direct effect on time to market. ?

Other elements include an intuitive user interface that enables rapid test setup across multiple bands and radio access technologies without the need for extensive scripting, capabilities that can help developers shave time from their development schedules, company officials add.?
