New Zealand operator TelstraClear has contracted two vendors to deliver a next-generation PVR for its cable TV customers. IPTV solutions provider Digisoft and content security specialist Verimatrix will jointly develop a hybrid HD DVB-C set-top box with PVR, IPTV and supporting services.

The PVR will utilize Digisoft’s Digihost Service Delivery Platform and Java middleware for HD services. The Verimatrix Video Content Authority System for DVB is intended to enable TelstraClear to combine its broadcast network with interactive IP delivery, using a single content security architecture.
