TeliaSonera International Carrier has announced that its Media Distribution Service (MDS) has been chosen by Philips Consumer Lifestyle as the technology platform for the new video on demand (VOD) services on Philips Net TV.

Philips Net TV provides access to the Internet via the TV. It enables consumers to browse websites and access online services on their Philips TV using just their remote control. With TeliaSonera International Carrier’s MDS integrated, managing the distribution of video content from upload right through to TVs via TeliaSonera’s own fiber optic network, Philips Net TV will now provide premium video on demand.

Philips Net TV is available on the Philips 7000, 8000 and 9000 series TVs, as well as the Cinema 21:9.

Multiple VOD partners have already been signed up, including VideoFutur in France and Belgium, Video Land in Benelux and film2home in the Nordics. Other websites available via Philips Net TV include YouTube, TomTom, eBay, MeteoGroup, Funspot, Dailymotion, Screendreams and Netlog, all of which are offered in a ‘made-for-TV’ layout.
