Tektronix has announced significant enhancements to its Sentry digital content monitor that detects video and audio errors in digital programs. Sentry can now also generate metrics that correlate to mean opinion scores (MOS). The key to delivering this new video artifact measurement and detection capability through Sentry was the development of a unique set of algorithms that are calibrated against the Tektronix PQA600 Picture Quality Analyzer.

Through a software upgrade, service providers can take advantage of artifact detection as an addition to Sentry’s QoE scoring capability with reason codes and its new MOS scoring capabilities.  These metrics can be used to compare and track the qualitative performance of audio and video programs throughout the video network, enabling them to identify where degradations in quality are occurring.
