Franklin views every screen as a potential home for Scripps content. In addition to delivering a number of TV Everywhere deals with Scripps’ distribution partners, she played a part in procuring Scripps’ first online-only subscription distribution deal with Amazon Prime Instant Video in 2013. Over the next year, she will continue to explore how to further bring Scripps content to television, computers and mobile devices. Her favorite part of coming to work? “The people, by far,” she says.
What’s your favorite part of your job?
The people, by far. I am at my best in an environment where I am working with smart, enthusiastic individuals who bring unique and varied perspectives to very complicated situations. I love the energy and outcome when folks with positive motivation are able to gather and debate the tough issues that shape our future. This is the working environment at Scripps Networks Interactive.
Best trick for maintaining the personal-professional life balance?
Don’t measure it over the course of a day or a week, because you are just setting yourself up to fail. Measure it over the course of a month or a year. And don’t over estimate your importance at the office. If you are succeeding as a leader, there should be others who can fill your shoes on occasion so that you can participate in events important to the health of your family.
