OnStream MediaPlayer+, a solution enabling cross-platform video delivery to any device on any platform, has been released by Silicon Valley’s VisualOn Inc., a multimedia software company that facilitates high-quality video and audio on any mobile platform.?

Compared with 2010, VisualOn says global mobile data traffic is expected to increase more than 375 percent this year alone. By 2014, 66 percent of all mobile data traffic will be attributed to video consumption, according to Cisco. OnStream MediaPlayer+ allows for the distribution of multimedia across mobile handsets (iOS, Android, Windows, MacOS, Windows Phone and more), tablets, desktops, connected set-top boxes and smart TVs.??

MobiTV, which was exhibiting at this week’s NCTC WEC in Austin, Texas, is using VisualOn’s new product. “By implementing MobiTV’s stateless video distribution and DRM with VisualOn’s OnStream MediaPlayer+, we are creating a reference standard and client platform ready for deployment across a wide variety of devices,” says Kay Johansson, MobiTV’s CTO.
