DG FastChannel is urging private industry and the Federal government to take the next step in the upcoming transition to digital broadcasting by making HDTVs easily available to consumers.
According to the U.S. Government’s official site, nearly $20 billion has been committed from private companies that have bought the analog spectrum in various auctions conducted by the FCC. DG FastChannel suggests that a portion of the auction proceeds be used to provide loans or grants to those in need of financial assistance to acquire an HDTV while giving consumers the choice of a preferred vendor to use as has been the case with the digital-to-analog converter box.
